Town of Walpole Passes All Three ProjectsCategory: Company Updates
The Town of Walpole passed all three Compass projects at the Fall Town Meeting on Monday, October 17th.
Walpole Town Meeting approved the following appropriations:
Article 3: $1.7M in supplemental funding to the previously approved $9M (Spring 2015) for the construction of the new Walpole Police Headquarters building. Total Project Cost $10.7M. Construction to begin Spring 2017.
Article 4: $14.7M dollars to construct the new, main Fire Rescue Station. Project includes temporary operations of the main station and demolition of the old building. Construction Phase to begin Fall 2016.
Article 5: $6.5 M dollars to construct a new Council on Aging building. Supplemental funding to support the estimated total project cost of $7.5M is expected to be received from a Community Block Development Grant and/or through private fundraising prior to construction start in the Fall of 2017. The Article achieved the required 2/3 majority vote (112-20) from a roll-call vote.
All approved funding does not require a tax override and will be handled within the Town’s current debt load.
